P.E.T.E. The robot

This was my second attempt at a hand drawn animation. The whole animation is around 75-85 frames? It’s silly. But walk cycles can be so boring sometimes.

This is archival footage of a prototype robot devised by the MLB to throw "the perfect pitch." The Pitching Efficient Technological Entity, otherwise known as P.E.T.E., was funded with a grant provided by the US government for $200 million dollars in 1937.

The project was short lived and a massive failure as numerous tests proved unsuccessful results. As the US became involved in WW2 in 1941, a war effort became a a larger priority. Failure to develop P.E.T.E. into the best frag grenade throwing instructor to justify wartime spending meant funding was cut from the MLB one day after declaration of war on Japan was made.
